It has taken centuries for women to reach where we as race stand today. Hyderabad Petrol pump run by former women convicts

The Telangana State Prisons Department has opened India’s first all-female petrol pump run by former prisoners in Chanchalguda Hyderabad. The system usually works to segregate the prisoners and is especially hard to female prisoners but this petrol pump has not only provided livelihood to former female jail inmates but also given them a tool to fight social stigma. These women inmates provide a monthly turn over of Rs 10 Crore as people also believe there will be no adulteration in a prison run petrol pump situated at busiest area of the city.  I hope more such initiatives come up in other states of the India and all around the world as well. woman empowerement international womens day, kirloskar all women factory hyderabad petrol pump women convicts argentina all women orchestra gender neutrality breaking the glass ceiling india

It’s a tribute to an all-women combine in the village of Moperipalayam near the southern Indian city of Coimbatore. Here, a group of 70 women manage the shop floor – assembling domestic water pumps at a plant run by the $2.1 billion (revenues) Kirloskar Group of Pune. The plant was set up in 2011 by the 125-year-old Kirloskar Brothers as an “experiment” on a 4-acre plot at a cost of Rs 11 crore. It now employs about 70 women who assemble one pump every 20 seconds, A feat recorded in Limca book of records in an area ; manufacturing where the industry is male dominated. The plant makes 20,000-25,000 pumps a month, and the quality of output is of such high standard that customers are now specifically asking for pumps manufactured at the Coimbatore plant. Pumps made here are also exported to Nepal and South Africa. Most of the women employed at the Coimbatore plant are school dropouts and between 18 and 24 years oldwoman empowerement international womens day, kirloskar all women factory hyderabad petrol pump women convicts argentina all women orchestra gender neutrality breaking the glass ceiling india

These women are enlightening the future generation with their courage, grit and determination. Breaking the glass ceiling has taken centuries and there are barriers still blocking the path for womankind to occupy a place alongside men folks shoulder to shoulder but it is a start and great one, we expect more women will achieve the feat banned to them on gender basis and one day we wont need to celebrate Women’s day.
